Crypto Poker

Poker is an online and physical casino game that is believed to be over one thousand years old and have ancient roots in many cultures. Many people even believe that poker can be traced to a tenth century Chinese domino card game called “as nas” which was created in the sixteenth century.

Different types of Poker Games

Texas Holdem

Texas holdem is one of the most popular forms because it’s extremely easy to follow and only includes two player cards. To play you need to have a standard fifty two deck that doesn’t include jokers. Typically poker is played at a table of two to ten players, but often times will have multiple tables running at the same time to form a tournament. Every player is given two cards that they can only see. Each player is trying to win the pot of money by using their cards and the community cards that are placed in front of every player. Before the cards are dealt, the dealer who is not involved in the play of the game will determine who receives the first set of blinds. Some bets are mandatory for players if they’re in the blind seats.

Within Texas holdem there are multiple variations that are popular around all crypto poker sites.

Limit Hold’em

In limit the bets are limited to the predetermined rate that is set before the game. When you join a BTC poker room you will see the betting limits on the table consol. For example you might see a room that states the stakes of the game are $5/10.

Pot-Limit Holdem

The same sort of scenario applies. Pot limit holdem means that the player is not allowed to bet more than the money currently in the pot. This allows the game to not run as big, sense a player can’t simply put all of his/her money in.

Unlimited Holdem

The size of the bet is allowed to be whatever the player has in front of him/her. You’re allowed to go all in at any time in the game when it’s your turn. Psychology plays a massive role in poker as you must “bluff” or trick the players into thinking your hand is better than it is.

Omaha

Omaha is a different form of poker where you will use some of the same elements. Instead of receiving two cards at the beginning of the deal, players will get four cards. Instead of playing all your cards, players will need to pick the best 2 cards they have in their hand to successfully win a hand. This means it’s easier to make better hands, and players need to be more understanding that opponents will have monster holds.

The ”button” decides who will pay the next blinds which are not negotiable. The blinds are set for the following two people, which are in the form of the small and big blind.

 Stages of Poker

Preflop- Everyone is given four cards at the start of the round.

Flop – Three common cards are face up on the table that the dealer puts out. These are the cards everyone at the table can play.

Turn- One more card is added to the common cards.

River – This is the last card that will be added during the round.

Showdown – When a player calls the final bet, they must show their hands and the dealer will determine the winner based on the players holdings.

The game doesn’t have to enter the “showdown” phase every single deal. If all players fold, then the last player In the game will receive the money in the pot.

Options players have

When it is your turn to move, players have seven main actions.

Raise – Someone else bets, and you decide to make a bigger bet.

All in- This is when you bet all of your chips.

Check – This is when you decide to not bet. You can only Check when you’re first to act, or if the player before you checks.

Fold – This is when you give up your cards and can no longer win the pot.

Call – When you call the previous players bet.
